I’ve been saving up my creative juices to write a really good first post of 2021. Nothing has come to me. And then I realized how absolutely burnt out I am. As my first year as a working adult, (although I was temping last year) not having a proper Christmas and New Year’s break is something I didn’t expect to be so hard. Obviously it was going to be different than being in school, and having days upon days to do nothing, but I did imagine I would have some time to relax and recharge.
I did have a few days off around Christmas, but I don’t feel any different. I think because I haven’t had a change of scenery. I love our apartment, but working from home full time has truthfully not been easy for me. I am ready for my boyfriend and I to become partners again, instead of co workers. I’m ready to have a commute, put on work clothes, and see people again! If someone asked me to rock up to my office (which no longer physically exists LOL ) tomorrow I would. Safely of course, masks, etc., but I crave going back into an office and making cute outfits and seeing coworkers and friends.
The good news, my lovely readers, is that we are near the end. The light is at the end of the tunnel, or whatever that saying is. I now know more people that have been vaccinated, instead of knowing more people that actually had COVID. Does that sentence even make sense? It’s been a rough first week of 2021 guys. I myself am also signed up as part of phase 1C to get a vaccination. They are already vaccinating 1B here, so I hopefully will be able to sign up soon.
I don’t really like the idea of ~New Years Resolutions~ but I have a list below of some things I am looking forward to and hoping to accomplish in the new year:
- Get sworn in. That’s right-ya girl passed the bar exam. I kept it on the dl because I didn’t want to fail and feel like I was disappointing everyone again. But after I pass one more small part (that I’ve failed three times before lol) and finish the rest of the application I can be sworn in!
- Get my CAMS certification. I signed up for this bad boy because I’m a masochist who enjoys studying too much according to one of my managers. But for real, I am excited to take this exam in March, and hopefully become a Certified Anti Money Laundering Specialist (so that will be Jordan L. Mendelson, Esq., CAMS to you).
- Lose my last 15 vanity pounds. Health was something I spent a lot of time focusing on in 2020, losing the first 15 pounds out of the 30 I wanted to. (Also that’s scary to actually acknowledge I was 30 pounds heavier than I wanted to be). I did gain a few pounds back, although for some reason was the lightest yet when I had my back surgery?? Looking forward to trying to stay consistent with workouts and healthy eating this year.
- Read more! This is always my one New Year’s Resolution. Last year my goal was 50 books. I read 26 lol. However the year before I only read 20. As long as I improve every year, I am glad!
Here’s to the end of 2020, and knowing any year has to be better than the shit show of last year!
What are some of your goals for 2021? Drop me some love in the comments and let me know you’re starting the New Year with me !
xx,
